Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter appeared on ABC’s The View once again, this time to talk about her new book about immigration. This show is perceived by many as a hostile environment for any conservative, and Coulter has been attacked on the show before–and this week was no exception as panel member Raven-Symoné tried to hit Coulter over her rhetoric. One might say Coulter gave as good as she got.

Before Symoné spoke up, the panel introduced Coulter by quizzing her on her support for real estate mogul Donald Trump’s bid for president of the United States.

Coulter noted that much of her interest in Trump is because of his stance against illegal immigration and his position that our immigration system is broken.

The Trump discussion took up the first half of Coulter’s time on the show; but soon, the discussion turned toward Coulter’s own position on illegal immigrants. And after a few minutes on that topic, former child actress Raven Symoné thought to make a more pious statement about public behavior by charging that Coulter is too bellicose in her rhetoric.

“My mom taught me when I was younger,” Symoné began sonorously, “‘If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’. And why do you think that it’s important to mud sling and have these words that obviously touch the hearts and souls of so many people in America being said when we’re taught something different as a child. Can you explain that to me and why do you think your success is based on that?”

Coulter, who’s latest book is titled, Adios, America, The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole, looked at the young questioner with a bit of incredulity and hit her back hard.

“Well, I’m at least talking about policy. You have a position on what people’s names should be. ‘Watermelondrea’ … I mean, you’ll insult people for their names. I’m talking about a government policy that affects all Americans, and immigrants, and the people living here. And it’s harming our country. So you don’t follow it.”

Coulter’s “Watermelondrea” comment referred to an incident where Symoné insisted that she would never hire someone with an ethnic sounding name like “Watermelondrea,” a name she heard on the Internet. But it wasn’t long before the actual person named Watermelondrea was criticizing Symoné for making fun of the name.

So, in short order, The View panelist was sent scrambling to apologize for attacking Watermelondrea’s name.

Coulter’s stint on the show only lasted a few more minutes, during which there was a lot of cross talk and interruptions and only partial answers; but another panelist asked the author, “Are you against all immigration, or just illegal immigration?”

“Right now the entire immigration system,” Coulter said in response, “the bureaucracy has got to be shut down because it is being used to serve, again, the business elites, the upper classes, the people who get to have all the cheap maids, it’s driving down (the economy).”

Coulter went on to wonder why, if a majority of immigrants are on welfare, we should be importing more of that sort of people.
